Fatal accident claims blog:

A man had died at age 64 having worked in a factory making railway carriages for around ten years and on a number of occasions had been exposed to asbestos dust. Years later, he was diagnosed as suffering from mesothelioma consequent of asbestos exposure. The man had known he was seriously ill for less than a year when he started to suffer from severe weight loss. He then became anxious and depressed following his weight loss and was briefly admitted to a hospice until death where he was treated with morphine.

The man would have worked part-time after normal retirement age. His widow was awarded a total of £122,114 which included bereavement claim and interest, funeral costs, loss of services in the household and garden, loss of driver and general damages.
