Children Win Case for Father’s Fatal Accident

Four children aged 14, 11, 10 and 7 at date of their Father’s fatal road accident sought damages for loss of dependency under the Fatal Accidents Act. A global award of damages for future losses was apportioned between the widow and each child. The judge agreed to the sum of £27,000 to the dependants. In knowledge that all children continued to live with the widow who would use the majority awarded to support the family.

General damages approved were given to each child as followed: £3,500, £6,000, £7,500 and £10,000
