Father lost two children to fatal car accident
A father has lost his two children due to a fatal car accident. The children lost their lives when the father’s girlfriend lost control of her Ford Focus.
The family were on the way to the cinema when the fatal car accident occurred. The father was in the passenger seat when His girlfriend of 44 years old swerved off the A47 causing the car to overturn into a ditch.
The fatal accident killed two girls aged 10 and 7. The 7 year old was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of crash.
An inquest heard how the car had uneven tyre pressures, low tyre treads and a slow puncture.
The female driver of the Ford Focus said she had to swerve the car to avoid a red BMW that was on the wrong side of the road, though witnesses did not see an oncoming vehicle.
The two young girls passed away of multiple injuries. The father also suffered from broken ribs. His son who was also in the car suffered cuts and bruises.
The female driver admitted death by careless driving on two accounts and was given a 15 month jail term.
