Forklift Truck Fatal Work Accident
It is believed a worker, was taking part in moving around 1,000 tyres on his fork lift truck when it sadly hit a tyre and tipped over and crushed the him, causing the fatal accident at work.
When the accident occurred, it is believed the tyres which the deceased was transporting was stored on the roadway where the accident occurred, which caused an obstruction and increasing the risk of a truck overturning.
A witness at the inquest which occurred advised that he did not see the accident happen but remembered hearing a loud noise and ran down to where it came from when he saw the forklift truck on top of the deceased.
Another forklift truck had to be used to lift the vehicle off him, when emergency services were called but regrettably he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem revealed that the deceased died of injuries consistent with a severe crush injury to his chest.
