Free fall training caused death of a father and husband
An air force special tactics airman in the died following a fatal accident claim.
The airman died during a “free fall” proficiency training.
The fatal accident is still under investigation. Master Sgt. Josh Gavulic was a 34 year old tactical air control party who had a wife and six children. He was a 16 year veteran and had 10 deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq where he earned a number of medals.
He won three bronze star medals, two joint service commendation medals with valour, one army commendation medal and two air force commendation medals. Cavulic was well qualified jump master. Free fall proficiency training requires the jumper to pull their own parachute.
