Male arrested after hit and run accident causing death
A 23 year old male has been arrested for causing a fatal hit and run accident. He caused a three car crash and left the scene on foot leaving a woman and two children in the car who were injured and another male dead in an opposing car. The male faces charges of felony menacing and vehicular homicide. He was sentenced April 3 to a deferred two-year probation sentence on two counts of theft, according to court records.
The crash occurred before 9 p.m. in Wheat Ridge on Kipling Street and West 32nd Avenue. A sliver Lexus and two red Oldsmobile’s were also involved in the crash. A male was heading south bound on Kipling with three other passengers in an Oldsmobile Aurora when he collided into the side of a Lexus. Investigations are still being made into how the accident happened.
The woman and the two kids who were left in the car were taken to hospital for treatment. The male in the older model Oldmobile was later pronounced dead, he had no passengers in the car. The person in the Lexus did not sustain injury.
Kirkland was arrested June 27, 2011, on charges of child abuse and reckless endangerment. He pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor reckless endangerment charge in exchange for having the child abuse charge dropped. He was given a one-year probation sentence.
