Roof Company Fined after Worker Falls from Roof
A roofing company has been fined for serious safety failings when a death at work occurred due to the deceased falling 7 metres through a fragile roof.
The deceased was removing asbestos cement sheets from the roof of a building when it collapsed below him causing him to fall over seven metres through the roof [please be aware there as specific Regulations that provide employers with a duty of care to employees who work at heights – see fall from height at work claims – a specific work accident website from our own expert solicitors.
He died instantly at the scene.
When a post-mortem was took out on the deceased it was confirmed he suffered serious head injuries causing him to die at the scene.
It was confirmed that the company he was employed for failed to provide him and other workers who was working at the site at the time of the accident with suitable equipment.
This has resulted in the company having to pay out £70,000 due to serious safety failings.
The family of the deceased made an application for fatal accident compensation.
