It is believed the 90-year-old deceased was travelling in his Peugeot 206 when he pulled out of a westbound carriageway and was hit by a lorry on the driver’s side.
Following the death of the motorist, a forensic collision investigation took place which said the lorry driver has applied emergency brakes and attempted to swerve to the right to try and avoid the crash.
Although the lorry driver was slightly above the speed limit he did everything he could to avoid the fatal car accident.
The deceased died instantly at the scene from laceration to his brain.
